TCYMN is all about youth media organizations helping youth media organizations. A partnership between Independent Filmmaker Project MN and Minnesota School of Business this summer is a prime example. MSB was gracious enough to offer the use of one of their sound stages to a group of young filmmakers from IFP. As part of a week long music video camp, the group spent an afternoon filming the band performance element of their music video at MSB’s facility in Edina. Narrative elements of the video were filmed on a second day of shooting along the Mississippi River. Youth learned that an in-door sound stage can be far more comfortable location (if also far louder) than along the buggy shores of the Ol’ Miss. But it was all worth it!
The resulting video of the band Lovely Dark’s song “Dark Heart of the Wood” made the weekly top videos list at both The Current and City Pages. Thanks MSB! Thanks also to Northern Outpost for their support of the young filmmakers!
